Where it began
Maria picked up her first racket in Costa Rica as a child, and by twelve was ranked among the top three players in the country. Tennis quickly became more than a game, it was a discipline, a passion, and a way to see the world.

On the world stage
Maria’s career took her to the Costa Rican National Team, the 2010 Fed Cup, and later to the U.S., where she studied, competed, and began coaching. Along the way, she developed her signature mindset coaching method, working with athletes at the highest level, including Bianca Andreescu, former US Open Champion and top 4 in the world.

In 2020, Maria returned to Costa Rica to open the Moya Tennis Academy in Nosara, bringing together her experience as a player, coach, and mentor. The academy is now home to players at every stage of the game.
